Since 2007, sales of our Charity Boots have raised over $1,800,000 for breast cancer care in Australia. These funds have helped Breast Cancer Care WA create several vital education initiatives, including:
- A youth education program that’s aligned with the curriculum and designed to reduce fear, raise awareness and highlight available support services
- Online campaigns to improve the community’s knowledge of breast cancer, dispel outdated myths and teach people how to be breast aware
- A PhD research project to research and develop a leading national online community that supports people affected by breast cancer, particularly those in regional and remote areas
In 2022 Steel Blue has expanded this commitment to provide breast cancer support in New Zealand through donations made to Sweet Louise.
Sweet Louise provides practical, emotional and social support to those diagnosed with incurable breast cancer. Their support coordinators are experienced in oncology and palliative care and are there to give individual assistance to those with a terminal diagnosis.
They also provide an opportunity for connection with social events, meetings, and an active online support group. Finally, Sweet Louise helps in very practical ways providing a range of vouchers for everything from petrol and groceries to family trips and other fun activities to give people joy in a very hard time.
