Steel Blue introduces more safety boot choices to New Zealand
Global safety footwear manufacturer Steel Blue has introduced a range of new products for customers in New Zealand to meet growing demand from trades and construction workers looking for more choice in work boot style.
Steel Blue is confident this increased investment into its New Zealand business comes at a time when style increasingly plays a role, along with function and comfort, in the decision making of work and safety boot purchasing.
The expanded range includes:
- Half size offerings for the majority of men’s style boots and all the Ladies Fit boots
- A new slate colour option in the Southern Cross® Zip and Parkes Zip: Scuff Cap boot
- A Composite Toe Cap option for the popular Argyle Zip work boot to better accommodate those working around electricity and at airports
- A Ladies Fit in the sand colour agricultural boot, the Hobart Ladies
Like with all Steel Blue leather boots, they are made from premium high-quality leather that’s ethically sourced from members of the Leather Working Group (LWG), with leathers predominately sourced in New Zealand.
“New Zealand is a key growth market for Steel Blue with previous new product launches quickly becoming best sellers,” commented Steel Blue Founding Director/Chief Sales Officer Ross Fitzgerald.
“The primary focus when we design boots is safety, and the one of the fundamental requirements is getting the right fit. That is why we have specially designed Ladies Fit boots and now half sizes. A poorly fitted boot can lead to discomfort and even injury, so we want to be sure every person can find the exact size they need.”
"It is vital to get a pair of boots that fit correctly. Getting fitted to the appropriate size, whether that is a full or half sizing, allows workers to wear steel caps with a better fit, improving comfort and reducing the risk of foot and lower limb issues."
Physiotherapist, Ruth Lennon, from Life Ready Biosymm Physiotherapy commented, “Steel Blue work boots are an important piece of personal protective equipment in many industries including mining, construction, warehousing and manufacturing. Comfortable work boots can increase comfort, productivity and reduce foot and lower limb problems.
“In a study on shoe concerns and foot problems of workers wearing steel caps, 47% of workers reported issues with pressure from the steel toe cap. It is vital to get a pair of boots that fit correctly. Getting fitted to the appropriate size, whether that is a full or half sizing, allows workers to wear steel caps with a better fit, improving comfort and reducing the risk of foot and lower limb issues.”
In addition to the half sizes, New Zealand will be one of the first markets to have the new Steel Blue slate coloured boot. The neutral tone colour is being introduced to align with other workwear trends recently released.
“The slate colour is a stylish option for trendy Tradies, and we are eager to find out what New Zealand workers think of it. Working in trades, mining, construction and manufacturing increasingly appeals to a diverse group of people with a variety of tastes. We want our boot options to match that diversity and provide for many different styles and needs.”
“The success of the sand coloured boot over the past few years has proven that workers want more choice, and that is what we are hoping to provide with these new boot sizes and styles,” said Mr. Fitzgerald.
“Work boots shouldn’t just be functional; they should be on-trend too. When people are comfortable and feel their clothes match who they are as a person, they are better able to put their best foot forward and exude confidence in the workplace or on-site. That is why we are adding more options to our line to better serve every Tradie’s personal style, without sacrificing safety, comfort and functionality.”
