Workwear that’s safe and fashionable.

Work boots are stepping up to provide both safety and fashion. Founding Director and Chief Sales Officer at Steel Blue, Ross Fitzgerald shares more.

Work boots and other work attire shouldn’t just be functional; they should be on-trend too. When people are comfortable and feel their outfit matches who they are as a person, they’re better able to put their best foot forward and have more confidence in the workplace or on-site. At Steel Blue, we’ve released eight new options to better serve every tradie’s personal style, without compromising safety, comfort and functionality.

Innovative new boots

We are confident this increased investment into our New Zealand business comes at a time when style growingly plays a role, along with function and comfort, when purchasing safety boots to ensure they are fit-for-purpose for a variety of industries.

New Zealand will be one of the first markets to have the new Steel Blue slate coloured boot available in our popular Southern Cross® Zip and Parkes Zip styles. The neutral tone colour and varying heights are being introduced to align with recently released workwear trends. Our latest releases include a Composite Toe Cap option in our flagship boot, the Argyle, providing a non-metallic alternative to steel toe caps as well as expanding our true Ladies Fit range to include the Sand colour in our Hobart pull-on style safety boot.

We are eager to find out what the New Zealand workers think of these new styles. We want our boot options to match the diversity of trades and wearers of our boots to provide for many different styles and needs.

Safety First, Always

The primary focus when we design boots is safety, and fundamental to safety is getting the right fit. So, in addition to fashionable colours, we have we have specially designed Ladies’ Fit boots to support women’s unique foot anatomy and half sizes across a wide range of our men’s and ladies ranges.

Getting fitted to the appropriate size allows workers to wear steel caps with a reduced risk of foot and lower limb issues.

In a study on shoe concerns and foot problems of workers wearing steel caps, 47% of workers reported issues with pressure from the steel toe cap. It is vital to get a pair of boots that fit correctly. Getting fitted to the appropriate size allows workers to wear steel caps with a reduced risk of foot and lower limb issues.

Physiotherapist, Ruth Lennon, from Life Ready Physiotherapy Biosymm commented, “Steel Blue work boots are an important piece of personal protective equipment in many industries including trades, construction, warehousing and manufacturing. The right work boots can increase comfort, productivity and reduce foot and lower limb problems.”

New Zealand is a key growth market for Steel Blue with previous new product launches quickly becoming best sellers. I’m eager to see what New Zealand workers think of our eight new boot styles, colours and fits.
